Golf

What is now the Orchard Park Country Club golf course, was originally owned and operated as The Park Country Club of Buffalo. The course was designed in 1916 by renowned architect Walter J. Travis. His storied golfing career (including 3 United States and 1 British Amateur Championship) was only further accoladed by his distinguished course design of 67 courses with recognizable names like Westchester CC and The Garden City Golf Club. In 1946, the Orchard Park Country Club was founded, with both the course and the club operating under that name for over the past 75+ years. The Orchard Park Country Club is a proud member of the Walter J. Travis Society.

In the mid 90’s, Brian Ault created an impressively modernized practice facility highlighted by a plethora of teeing ground for OPCC members. Holes 17 and 18 were removed to create this space; holes 5, 6 and 12 and 13 were either newly created or redesigned around the picturesque quarry pond.

The Orchard Park Country Club layout is known for varying shaped greens, a premium on shot placement and greenside shot-making.

Practice Facilities

The practice facility is centrally located and easily accessible for golfing members and for guests on the day of play. The driving range runs parallel to the first hole, approximately 50 yards from the clubhouse. The Titleist range balls are provided complimentary, and the outside staff team will replenish the golf balls frequently.

The landing area of the driving range has 8 targets, ranging from 35 to 220 yards. The two tee decks are extremely generous in size (29,000 square feet), which means you will have fresh grass from which to hit each day.

There are two practice greens for your use. The green near the golf shop is intended for putting practice; the green nearest the driving range is primarily designed for greenside chipping and pitch shots. A tightly mown chipping area allows for your practice to simulate the fine OPCC course conditions. Putting is permitted on this green when others are not present.

Golf Outings

OPCC looks forward to hosting your next golf outing at our 18-hole Walter Travis designed course. Cellular phones should be placed on vibrate mode when on the course or practice range. Other electronic devices should be used in a manner that does not cause a distraction to others.
It should be the goal of all players to complete an 18 hole round in four hours or less. It is the responsibility of each player in the group to keep pace with the group ahead. Stopping for lunch or for a period more than 5 minutes will cause players to lose their turn on the 10th tee. When a group has not lost a clear hole, but it is apparent that the group behind can play faster, it should invite the faster moving group to play through.
For your convenience, a bag drop is located near the golf shop and 1st tee. Feel free to leave your clubs with a uniformed outside staff attendant prior to parking.
